DEPORTATION & REMOVAL DEFENSE

Two stages where
we defend you

Removal proceedings in San Francisco Immigration Court move fast. Attorney Dylan Hackett — former Deputy District Attorney — knows how government agencies build removal cases, and how to dismantle them at every stage.
01
Before Immigration Court
If you have received a Notice to Appear (NTA) but have not yet had your first hearing, there is time to build a strong defense.
02
In Immigration Court
Once proceedings begin at San Francisco Immigration Court, every filing and hearing matters. We represent you at every stage.

Common Questions

What should I do if I receive a Notice to Appear?
Contact an immigration attorney immediately. A Notice to Appear (NTA) initiates formal removal proceedings in immigration court. The sooner you have legal representation, the more options you have. Acting quickly gives your attorney the most time to prepare your defense and file any available motions. For information on your rights in removal proceedings, visit USCIS.gov
Can I be deported if I have a pending green card application?
Yes, under certain circumstances. A pending green card application does not automatically stop removal proceedings. However, it may be raised as a defense in immigration court. An attorney must evaluate your specific situation before you take any action. For individuals seeking humanitarian protection, learn about our asylum representation
What is cancellation of removal and who qualifies?
Cancellation of removal allows certain individuals in removal proceedings to remain in the U.S. For non-permanent residents, you generally must show 10 years of continuous presence, good moral character, and that your removal would cause exceptional hardship to a qualifying U.S. citizen or permanent resident family member.
How long do removal proceedings take in San Francisco?
San Francisco Immigration Court cases can take 2–4 years to reach a final hearing due to significant backlogs. Initial master calendar hearings may be scheduled months out. An attorney can help you use this timeline strategically while pursuing available forms of relief.
